Every 18 months or so since December 2008, when we first became Denplan Excel accredited, we have had a full day, in depth practice inspection to ensure we meet, and help us to exceed, certain minimum high standards in every aspect of our care for our patients.
Despite this being widely accepted as a “gold standard” within the dental profession, it isn’t recognised by the national healthcare governing bodies, which under the remit of the CQC means we have to pass an inspection with them in order to be registered with the CQC for us to be able to operate as a practice.
With 2 weeks’ notice given, a comprehensive inspection was carried out by an inspector and a specialist dental adviser from the CQC on 28th March 2023 under section 60 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008.
As with any inspection of this nature, everyone was a little apprehensive as although we knew our practice is being run well and we are providing consistently good quality oral health care in a safe environment, there is always some nervousness around any inspection.
We were very reassured that we received a glowing report which we can be very proud of.
Everyone in the practice always works very hard to ensure we deliver the best service we can and our special thanks and gratitude go to our practice manager, Lynn, who has worked tirelessly to make sure we continue to meet these very high standards of which we are all very proud.
I would encourage anyone to click on the link www.cqc.org.uk/directory/1-2218932838, where a full report can be seen.
